Today marks the day when I can finally announce that I will be joining Halfords Racing with Cataclean, for a multiyear programme.
This comes after a season away from the paddock in 2020, which was a decision made by both myself and my title partners Cataclean to ride out the storm that the pandemic created.
We’ve been working hard over the winter to pull this deal together, so I’m really pleased and proud to representing such a great team!
After making my BTCC debut in 2019 with Cataclean, it was gut wrenching to take the decision to back away from the series. For the first few weeks, I’ll be honest, I did question whether I/we had made the right decision, seeing all of my fellow competitors doing what I had planned to do, is actually very tough mentally, although I am no stranger to it – I had to sit and watch before during an eight year period when I wasn’t racing due to lack of funding, it wasn’t any easier even with that experience!
It was made a lot easier as I was thrown a bit of a lifeline with a call from Matt Neal suggesting we should get together and have a chat about the future! To be honest it was a real ‘pinch yourself moment’ one moment no racing, then next I had the main man of BTCC suggesting that it might be possible to join Team Dynamics! I am under no illusion, I bring with me a fantastic commercial partner, one that fits perfectly with the commercial opportunities that Team Dynamics hold, namely Cataclean’s largest high street retailer Halfords.
It’s a perfect match and genuinely exciting for me, it really is very personal to me to see all of their loyalty and trust finally being repaid. Alongside Cataclean without whom this dream would never have become a reality, I have some amazing personal sponsors, Fenix Freight and MAPS Wireless who have shown amazing loyalty in staying with me after we pulled in 2020.
Additionally, I am very fortunate to have brought some new personal sponsors to the championship in 2021, which will be announced in due course. It’s an absolute honour to be racing again in BTCC, I cannot wait to get out there and see what we can do….no excuses now! I have everything around me to make great things happen, I will go into this season relaxed and let it come to me. I have my own personal targets, but we all know how tough BTCC is… I’m just excited to be getting this opportunity… massively overused cliche, but it really is dreams do come true!
Ross Baigent – Managing Director Cataclean added “We are delighted to be working with Team Dynamics and Halfords, having been in and around the BTCC paddock for several years now, we know this is the perfect Championship for us to be in to build our brand and educate people on our fantastic range of products. Halfords are our largest high street retail partner, so this relationship provides a great synergy for our business. When Daniel presented this opportunity we knew that it was something that we had to pursue, our working relationship with Daniel needs no introduction, and as we enter our 5th year together, something tells me it just might be the best yet! Wishing Daniel and Flash all the best for the season ahead!”
Jamie Nicklin – MD Fenix – Dan has been a perfect commercial partner for Fenix, he works tirelessly not only for his partners, but also within the sport, thanks to the support of Team Dynamics we can all continue the Journey together and be there when the hard work pays off. Good luck Dan.
Matt Neal “It’s great to have Dan join the team, he’s got previous experience in the BTCC, so he knows what to expect and how competitive it is. I know he has set himself some pretty realistic, yet tough goals and I’ll be there to help and mentor him and make sure we achieve the best results we can for him and for the team”
